These are a selection of images that I liked the most from a shoot that I did for Cornetto Ice Cream in January this year. The water was freezing as it was shot in Cape Town on a particularly dismal morning (thank goodness the rain cleared up just in time for the shoot to start) – these two has such great energy together.

This is part 3 of my styled “urban fashion” series … through my eyes, it’s the softness of the pastel high-low skirt and the absorbed-thoughtful feeling that the images give me, that I like about them. Also, the structure of the hard line of the stairs that juxtapose the look.

An epic event on Saturday at the Durban Colour Festival … here are some shots from my camera from the day(can’t claim responsibility for all of them as it got passed around a little). There have been events in all of the major cities around South Africa (mostly called Holi One Colour Festival)  where dry paint gets thrown around to the backrop of hooliganism and music … it’s great that Durbs gets included in most of these big events these days. You can see the gradual decline in cleanliness … we started off with bright sprays of colour and then all ended up a certain shade of grey-purple.

I love the cheekiness of these images, the soft lace skirt with denim and lumo accessories really aids the fun feeling too. Shot in a hotel entrance on the Durban Point Waterfront development (We were chased off location by hotel security because we weren’t allowed to shoot in the area … hee hee)

This beautiful little family are close friends of my little sister, it was such a treat to get to know you three. You have such a gorgeous little man, the best baby I have shot to date! Shot at their family home in Westville, we had a little fun around the house (and garden) and even managed to get a bit of  Liverpool loving in too. Hope that these photos save precious memories of the early days of your little family. xx

I have had the pleasure of working with this gorgeous woman many times over the past three years. She never fails to inspire me creatively, she’s kind of my muse – thank you Sarah for putting up with me! hehe – hopefully we have many more interesting times together in the future.

…So whilst wedding season is fast approaching, I have decided to encourage my incredibly talented sister Jenna Hattingh, to pick up a camera and assist me behind the lens. Both of my sisters get dragged along to most of my shoots to assist with lighting. I can’t thank them enough for all the time and effort they give to my work. I was asked to photograph some casual portraits of the impressively talented and amazing “Coppen clan” recently,  whom I have known since I was a child and also happen to be god parents to my sister and I. This family has grown substantially since I last caught up with them, such a gorgeous bunch and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to spend some time with them again.  I hope that these portraits have captured a little of what they are about… so much love for these people xx
